Chris C. Kemp is an entrepreneurial executive with a passion for igniting innovation in high-tech organizations. Chris has experience starting, funding, building, and selling technology businesses. As Chairman of NASA's Web Council and Chief Information Officer at NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, Chris helped forge partnerships with Google and Microsoft and is responsible for NASA's Nebula Cloud Computing Platform. Prior to joining NASA, Chris helped create the third largest online communityClassmates.com, the leading web-based vacation rental platformEscapia, and the first online grocery shopping platform for Kroger, the world's largest grocery store chain.
Kemp, 32, began his career at the age of 15 working at an Apple Computer store. While studying computer engineering in college, Kemp took an internship at Silicon Graphics Computer Systems. Before graduating, he founded Netran, a company that launched the online grocery shopping service for Kroger, the world’s largest grocery store chain. Kemp served as CEO and President of Netran from 1997-2000.
In 1997, Macmillan published Kemp’s book, Web Programming with Perl 5.
Kemp is an avid reader and traveler, and enjoys skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and playing the violin.
